The Harvest is Plenty

“Certainly, the labor is great but the workers are few.”

These are Jesus’ words found in the Gospel of Matthew. We currently face a reality which makes Jesus’ words resound louder than ever as we navigate these new circumstances globally. It makes me think about the time after Jesus rose from death and went to heaven. He told his disciples He would send the Counselor and that they would be filled with power TO PREACH. Shortly after Pentecost a huge wave of persecution came upon them. The disciples and all believers back then faced the unthinkable, the unimaginable and they seemed to be outnumbered, unprepared and so small compared to the circumstances around them. But see, it was precisely that, the persecution, which caused them to grow, mature and taught them how to put into practice all the things the Lord had taught.

The early church faced persecution. Some modern Christians face persecution as well in different parts of the world. Many of us are unable to relate to such things because of the freedom in which we live.. But this…..this has hit us all. This has united us. We all mourn the deaths of hundreds of thousands especially if they left without the Lord. We all feel the pain of those sickened. We all understand the fear and the uncertainty of the future.
But in the spiritual realm there is one truth that still remains.
The harvest is still so innumerable it is difficult to comprehend.
There are still millions that have not heard the good news of Salvation.

Much like the early church His bride is being shaken and discovering once again our original purpose.
The gospel grew tremendously back in the early church because the Christians were forced to flee to save their lives. Now we are pushed to stay put in order to save our lives. But we have within our reach tools that have never existed before.

The Gospel will still make its way. We want to be taught by the Lord how to approach this moment in which we live and watch what Satan has meant for evil God redeem for good. We rejoice in this time watching God reach the unreachable and believers being strengthened with boldness in sharing His word.
In the words of Mordechai to Queen Esther “perhaps you were made … for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

“So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37,38
